Guess Where This Is

Nope, you're wrong. It's Michigan! Damien and I were surprised to find ourselves in what felt like another country, but what was actually Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. We spent our time there running down giant sand dunes (and plodding slowly back up them), snorkling in the gorgeous blues, and camping in a lush forest. An insane storm came in one night and the whole area lost power, which was still without watts when we left. We extended a trip to Michigan to celebrate my cousin Mike who sadly passed away two years ago. We stayed up until 4 am with my mom and my cousins and my aunts & uncles catching up and having fun around a bonfire.....then in the morning it was blaring Polish music and people drinking more beer, the sign of a party with stamina. Thanks to my totally rad family, to a state with a lot of hidden secrets, and thanks to another beautiful memory in my cousin Mike's name.

Have you ever heard the Polka song, "There's no beer in heaven, thats why we drink it here." I love that song. We were just in Buffalo, but we missed ya'll. We were sad about it. Virginia is only about six hours from us and MaryJo's dad just moved there so maybe we'll be able to meet up sometime soon.

We were so sad to miss you. Everyone keeps saying how wonderful and handsome Harper is. Let's make a point to meet up soon so that D and I don't have to feel so terriby unlucky not to have seen the 3 of you. And I'm not sure, but there's a good chance I did hear that song. But then again I don't think there were many English lyrics.

Oh Kristin why does breakfast always have to be eaten so fast? You BJ and Landen make our hearts pitter-pat. Miss you already. Michigan was beautiful, we were tracking your footsteps and remembering your shining faces.

Hey Erica, That water is beautiful! Good luck with the move. I can't wait to hear how you like Richmond and teaching. Does VA start school in August or September? Here kids go back the first week of Aug. Wierd.

Hi Maryjo, Luckily school doesn't start until the day after our 2nd wedding anniversary, Sept 5, but we've got all kinds of preservice training days starting Aug 21. Man it's a good thing Georgia fell through huh? Ha ha. Hope you're wonderful...kisses to bambino
